QUICK INTRODUCTION:

A fantasy novel told from four different perspectives through various periods of time. The setting is the Maravi Sea, a Mediterranean-like sea surrounded by small countries that share a common language and some common aspects of culture. This world has magic, piracy, royalty, and widespread corruption that our main characters, a group of four young women, work their hardest against. Disjointed in time, pieces of their backstories and arcs fall together along the course of the novel while we follow the overarching plot of prominent political and cultural figures going missing.

CHARACTERS:

THEO: 23, AQUARIUS

A Deaf redheaded pirate with luck magic and a talent for making friends even in the worst of situations, Theo is the first mate of the ship and their resident fire-starter- often literally. Call her for a good time, but don’t expect her to be punctual, and expect to be running for your life at least once throughout the night.

VALDEZ: 24, SAGITTARIUS

Valdez is pirate captain with a secretive past- though what pirate captain doesn’t have a secretive past? She may let Theo do most of the networking, but there’s never any guess to who’s in charge. She’s well known not just for her renowned weather magic, but her powerful ex-girlfriend- another pirate captain. Call her if you’re ever in a really tight spot- but do her a favor and don’t ask how she gets you out of it.

ZIV: 23, TAURUS

Despite being from one of the only countries in the region that doesn’t share a common culture, Ziv’s made a home on the ship, serving primarily as muscle. Her self-healing magic made her great at martial arts growing up, and she certainly puts that- and her new sword fighting skills- to use in her new life as a pirate. Call her if you need to intimidate someone- or if you need someone to vent to. She’s a shockingly good listener.

NEA: 22, CANCER

Really, Nea’s just a nice girl from a rural island, but when her latent magic kills a man, she sort of ends up an accidental pirate. She is kinda loving it though… and she may have never felt more at home than at sea. Little does she know, but her journey has barely begun. Call her if you’re having a bad day- she brightens up every room she enters.

RAYAN: 25, VIRGO

Bartenders are good for a lot of things, but one of those is gossip- especially when said bartender’s magic lets them know when someone is hiding something. Rayan is the ship’s best contact for keeping updated on the state of the sea- and their most trustworthy, since Rayan did save Ziv’s life, years ago. Call them if you want a specialty cocktail, or if you need someone to give you the most cryptic advice you’ve ever heard, the type you look back on six months later and realize was right all along.
